Dr. Thais Booms, University of Michigan grad and five-year PDC Orthodontist, answers the question of how old you should be to begin your orthodontic care.

She shares that the American Association of Orthodontics recommends every child be seen by an orthodontic by the age of seven.  Additionally, Dr. Booms recommends bringing your child in once or twice a year after age seven for evaluation. This allows the orthodontist to achieve the best results by optimally monitoring  growth, tracking the direction of teeth, and determining the best time to start treatment, resulting in the shortest treatment time possible.
