What is sedation dentistry?

When you are sedated, you are still awake and can respond to verbal commands.  You are not fully present, and you may not remember the procedure.  The sedation eliminates the fear related to the dental visit.

Why would you choose sedation dentistry?

Sedation can help patients who have fear and anxiety around the whole dental process.  Also, for those patients who have a strong gag reflex or can’t get numb.

Is sedation dentstry safe?

Yes, it is very safe.  The doctor starts with the minimum dose and monitors your level of sedation.  If needed, the dose can be increased incrementally, so you are never over sedated.

Who is a good candidate for sedation dentistry?

You must be 18 or over, and healthy with no complications.  You also will be at the office for a minimum of 2 hours.

What does the sedation feel like?

You feel very calm and relaxed.  The sedation takes away all of the anxiety over the dental visit or procedure.
